Not a single good thing happened in this entire book! Not one good thing! Not in the whole book!

Okay, I'm possibly being dramatic and some of my favorite books are total downers. (Hey there, Gone With the Wind, does anything good happen in you? Not really.) 

As with the first book in this series, I feel out of my element reading high fantasy. I'm still on the fence about it all (I'm just more happily situated in our world) but I am enjoying this foray into a different genre. 

Aside from the string of bad events from start to finish, my one real complaint was the way sexual assault was presented and discussed-- without any empathy toward survivors of real-life assaults. While I was reading it, all I could think was how horribly triggering it could be for some folks. So, that's something to be aware of.
