I like reading books about war dogs, shipwrecks, and lady aviators.
I liked this book so much more than I expected I would! I've watched the Netflix series, in which Piper is an unbearable brat. But the Piper who eloquently relates her memoir doesn't afford herself any coddling, is straightforward in accepting her responsibility, and uses her story to reflect on her privilege in the face of a broken and corrupt prison system. Ultimately, this book does so much important work in bringing light to our penal system and how little justice is ever served.
