I like reading books about war dogs, shipwrecks, and lady aviators.
Cal is the most captivating narrator I've encountered in quite a while. I think I've been toting around a copy of this book since it won its Pulitzer in 2003, but I'm glad I waited until I was a grown up to read it.
It was a thrill to read this book centered around gender identity right as American culture has (finally!) begun to bring such conversations to popular attention.
